How much would your wife have to make in a highly stable career for you to say frick it, I'm not going to work anymore, I'll do light housework and raise the kids.

I could do it now without her working, kids are gone too!

She'd have to make more than what I make now. So about $400k a year.

If you're a multimillionaire and your wife likes her career, why not. Drive your McLaren to pick your kid up at school.
Being wealthy enough to retire and frick off isn't beta, it's VHS.

Life is meant for livin.... I don't understand why people that are able to retire don't. We weren't put here to work, no matter how much you love your job.

My dad retired this year and my mom hasn't yet. Currently my mom is at work and my dad is hanging out with friends in San Diego.

Says someone who hasn't had this kind of household income.

Double that number.

the real issue here is that you need something to retire to, not from, and I don't think, golfing, or going to the hunting camp every weekend is the answer, I'm getting to the age to where retirement is coming whether I want it or not, it seems like fun but I've had a pretty fast paced life, hair on fire for a lot of it and still enjoy the hell out of what I do, there needs to be a plan in place

I'd be a stay at home dad in second. I already love to cook and work on the house and cars. Replace the hassle of a job I don't like, with hauling the kids around. Seems pretty sweet to me.

Mine is going to make more than double my current pay of 84k. That's the context of my current situation.

If she's making $200k then what the hell is the difference between $200k and 280k, with the law of diminishing returns? Also, it's in a field that is very stable, unlike a high paying corporate job.

You married well, baw. Mine is a fricking anchor. $200k would be tight for me. I don't think I'd do it. $250k would get me thinking.

"Being a mother is the most difficult job on the planet". Really? Being a mother is the most difficult job on the planet? Oh yeah, all those mothers who die every year from black lung, from inhaling all that coal dust. Dude, women are just constantly patting themselves on the back about how difficult their lives are, and nobody corrects them because they wanna frick 'em. That's what it is. So there's just this tornado of misinformation swirling around their head.

What would you rather be doing? Drilling to the center of the Earth, shaking hands with the devil... everytime there's a rumble in the ground you're waiting for the whole thing to collapse down on top of you.. so they can write that folk song about you. You know? Or would you rather be up in the sunshine running around with a couple of toddlers that you can send to bed whenever you want... on some sort of trumped up charges.. so that you can have a drink and watch the Price is Right.

I couldn't believe it. "It's the most difficult job on the planet". Oh really? I thought roofing in the middle of July as a red head.. I thought that was difficult. But these mothers are bending over at the waist putting DVD's in the DVD player. I don't know how they do it! I don't know how they do it.

Dude, any job that you can do in your pajamas is not a difficult job. Alright? Give me a break! Jesus Christ, you're 35 years old playing hide and go seek... you're living the dream! You're living the dream. No time card, no taxes... you're off the fricking grid! Making popsicle stick houses... I mean...

"It's the most difficult job on the planet!" Unbelievable.
