SIAP, didn't see it anywhere. LSU student found ODing on heroin, revived with narcan, named this guy as his supplier. Crazy story.

A 33-year-old Baton Rouge area man is in custody on attempted second-degree murder and felony drug counts for allegedly supplying heroin to another man who overdosed in the men's bathroom in LSU's Digital Media Center, WAFB reported Sunday (July 16). Investigators with the Louisiana State University Police Department arrested Joshua Brian, 33, of Greenwell Springs, who reportedly was identified as an employee for EA Sports, which operates a video game testing program at the media center. According to authorities, EMS units and officers found a 25-year-old man suffering from a heroin overdose Friday in the media center's bathroom, and managed to resuscitate him with a dose of opioid-fighting Narcan, WAFB reported. The man then told detectives that he obtained heroin from someone named "John," who was later identified as Joshua Brian.

I'll never understand the thought process of a person prior to that moment they decide to "try" heroin. Do they not know the spiral they're about to go down? It's not like this is some hidden secret. Do heroin...you're fricked.

I guess the OT legal baws can weigh in on this, but attempted second degree murder for a near overdose? I'm all for drug dealers going down, but is this a normal charge?

Joshua Brian

From WAFB:

quote:

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage which showed a slim build white male with long hair, enter the Media Center and head towards the area of the restrooms.

The probable cause report says:

Approximately, ten (10) minutes later the white male suspect is seen coming from the restroom area in a frantic state. The suspect appears to have a lost sense of direction, the suspect goes outside and then re-entered back later and rushes up the stairwell in the direction of the building used by EA Sports employees.

quote:

Brian did not notify staff or emergency responders of the situation, nor did he make an attempt to help the victim before someone noticed him. It is also believed Brian made no attempt to aid the victim due to the door of the stall being closed.

First rule to doing drugs is your never name your dealer. That's the type of shite that gets you killed. I wouldn't be able to sleep comfortable if I was this kid.

It's either low intelligence or parents that are completely useless. Usually both. I don't get it either. He's young enough where all through his life he was made aware of the poisonous effects of heroin.

If memory serves, there's a specific section in the statue that specifically covers it, so yeah. You can get hemmed up. The sentencing isn't the same though IIRC.
