You got me. I think humans are selfish when it comes to the death of close ones. Sure, no one wants to lose a loved one, but that doesn't mean we should keep them alive as long as possible.. I never understand when people say "we shouldn't play God by enhancing someone's death, but isn't treating someone & healing them from something playing God as well?

I think it was a 60 mins segment awhile back, I watched. If yall remember that girl a few years ago, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor and moved to Oregon where it is legal to take your own life for medical reasons and thats what she did. Her and her husband wasn't married that long, etc, etc, but after watch that piece, which included other people's stories, we really need to use more common sense with this.

One of my big problems is people outside of these types of situations making the above type assumptions about people who are actually in such situations, and the idea that legislation may actually be enacted based upon such assumptions. Therein lies one of my big fears about codifying this stuff even further.

Why is it the responsibility of the euthanasia for killing someone else? Surely it is between that patient and the doctors.

I watched brain cancer eat away my grandmother... for a little while. We quit going to visit after a month because watching someone in that condition/suffering is hard to sit by with nothing to do but add morphine patches. She went through this for a few months.

My dad quit going around the same time because he couldnt take watching his mom go through that. My grandfather had to just bear it. This was in their home , not the hospital.

I wish I had Dr.Kevorkian's number back then. I learned there is no god.

Just give me an unlimited supply of booze and drugs, and I'll work it out by myself.

I still have no idea why people can't decide to do assisted suicide if they're dying anyway

You don't think a heart transplant is akin to "playing god"? There are many different procedures along the same lines. Bet you don't have a problem with any of that...

I am sorry to hear about your grandmother. As I type this I am with mine, she hasn't had food or water in 10 days, other than a wet sponge to wipe her mouth. Hospice will give you the meds needed to be comfortable but in no way do they prescribe anything that will "push" for a quicker end. It's absolutely awful to watch someone slowly die like this but I wouldn't be anywhere else. Prayers to you & your family.

very sorry to hear that you are having to deal with that...your grandma's pain will be over soon and the healing process can begin.

I have been there...
