I usually use two towels at bath time. One for body, one for hair. I wash the body one after every use, but I'll re-use the hair one.

When the towel starts to smell, then it's time for a new towel.
If I didn't live in the south, the towel would actually dry, but in the south the dampness can add to the short life of a clean towel.
