As others have said then, not much else can be trouble shot without taking it apart.

Check youtube for your model number and problem. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago and it wound up being a burned out fuse. Lint had backed up in the exhaust (hadn't cleaned it out in a while) and blew the thermal fuse. Youtube had a video on how to replace the fuse. Cost me $15.

Thermal fuse - you have to take the back off to get to it. It's a $20 part. I replaced mine a couple weeks ago.

Burnt Thermistor.

And clean the lint out of the exhaust. It probably is clogged, the dryer got too hot, and the thermistor blew.

Dryers are pretty easy to work on if you've got the basic troubleshooting skills. Based on the limited information here my wild guess would be the timer is bad. If it was a problem with the thermal fuse like someone suggested, the dryer would still spin and the blower would operate, but the heater element would not come on.

Mine wouldn't spin or come on at all, but it didn't smell burnt up. Once I swapped out the thermal fuse, it started right up.

I had the same problem with the thermal fuse. Costs about 10 bucks. Easy fix if that's the culprit.

flip the breaker off and back on...

Do this for sure if you haven't. Don't just check it by sight. I made that mistake and wasted a lot of time. It only needs a hair of difference to be off.

then check that thermal fuse. Sometimes you can't check it and have to just change it to know.

Ah, for some reason I was thinking thermal cutoff instead of fuse. Different part altogether.

I fixed my dryer a few weeks ago—thought at first it was the cutoff but it turned out to be the heat cycle thermostat. That switch never opened when the heat threshold was reached, so the heater element stayed on until it tripped the thermal cutoff.
