I'm saying i'm not going to get out of the left lane if I'm going ~80 mph and passing people while in the passing lane just because someone wants to go 90 mph
that would require me to slow down to ~70 mph just because you want to go ~90 mph. Not gonna do that.

therefore, you quickly approach me; we are both in the passing/left lane.
I've no intention on slowing down and switching to the right lane to allow you to continue on your path in the left lane.
If I am in the left/passing lane, and passing people in the right lane, I am in the appropriate lane, regardless of how fast you would like to go in the left/passing lane.

80-85 mph is not considered slower traffic. I am in Tennessee, and the actual law as of 2016 is if you are in the left lane, you must actually be passing folks in the right lanes. If I'm doing that, I'm legally and morally in the clear. 29 other states have this exact law as well. Not sure about LA.

Even leaving out the high speeds, this should be more than fine as long as when you get a gap, you allow traffic to flow.

no doubt. I don't do it to be a dick. I just live in a congested city and don't intend on weaving in and out of traffic to allow someone to go faster than me when I am in the appropriate lane.
If there is a gap, I will get over. But usually these folks see the gap and go around before I get the chance. I shouldn't have to, but I will, considering you can't pass a gap.

The left lane is not meant to be stayed in. You pass and get over to the right. It doesn't matter if you are going the speed limit or a little over gtfo of the way when you are not passing someone.

someone going that fast is a hazard and I am doing my diligence by forcing that ole baw to slow down and just be late to the chopper. That oil rig ain't goin' anywhere.
