Downvote stalkers: What do they do?

How does this work?
Do they just go around every single thread looking for posts from certain people?
Do they follow one poster all day and downvote them?
How many people are actual downvote stalkers?
Is it one or two per poster?
Are they sitting around at work or at home all day doing it?
I downvote maybe once every 2-3 weeks. Can't imagine doing it all day, every day. I stay up pretty late, so I catch them slipping sometimes. They'll always go back and hit the down arrow the next morning.
Doesn't bother me at all. Just curious.

I think people would be a lot more conscience of how/what they posted if this site kept record of the upvote-downvote numbers similar to Reddit karma. It would clear up some of the riff-raff for sure.

At my old job, the IT nerds would run the numbers each week. If an employee didn't have enough upvotes then they got made fun of. It got pretty mean.
