The timing really does seem suspicious though. His mother died 3 days before the separation. That seems like a very bad time to do it. Something's just not sitting right on this. I think she just wants his money and faked an injury since she knows a Judge isn't going to give her a 9 figure settlement after less than 2 years of marriage.
EDIT: Yeah, reading through the article, I fully believe it. Doug may be the most brutally honest comedian in the industry (with only Bill Burr as competition). What he says makes perfect sense. I hate it that Johnny fell in love with a leeching succubus.

It is pretty easy to believe that she was only after the money. The legal system is to blame for incentives to behave like a whore (or theoretically a man whore). Why should the spouse be entitled to your salary after a divorce? What happened to equality or being a functional human being of your own?

So Depp beat her arse all of the time, Heard told him she was going to leave him if he did it again, Depp told his friends that if she left she would make up lies like he beats her, he beats her again, she leaves and now his friends believe him?
