He can say whatever he wants. He isn't going to jail for being a racist. The NBA board has the power to ban people from NBA events and potentially force them to sell. That's THEIR right. "Racist a-hole" isn't a protected class

You can't say whatever you want when you're the owner of a team in the NBA. Get outta here.

Do you know this for a fact? I had heard that there was some doubt as to whether the NBA had the authority to do this. I would possibly expect a lawsuit. And, no matter what, it is a sad day when there are repercussions for saying things in the privacy of your own home.

I hate the pernicious effects of thought crimes. But, unfortunately, that's the world we live in these days.

You tried to play up this same old argument last night...

What would make me change? I am right. You can say whatever you want in your home as well as anyone else.

Being racist isn't illegal. If being racist disqualifies you from owning, playing, working in any capacity by the NBA maybe the NBA needs a better screening process....and they will need a lot of new players.

Wright should be banned from the organization he is part of too. Glad we can agree

Really? a church leader?

Sterling knew he was being recorded and still made the comments. It's his own stupidity that has put him in this position.

Rev Wright has never let that stop him either. And he does it from the pulpit, not in the privacy of his own home. Sterling is an idiot, and an a-hole, no doubt about it. I'm not sure we should go down this road though. Where does it end?

Sounds like the NBA should ban a few players. I am sure there are several that have been outspoken and racist before and after this incident.

I guess he could keep the Clippers if he pulled them out of the NBA.

The clippers are property of the NBA, he just owned the franchise.

You are stating this as if it is a fact. Is it a fact or just the gf's side of the story? We all know she has integrity

Who's going to ban Wright? Himself?

That's like David Duke banning himself from his racist organization. Or Nathan Forrest banning himself from the klan.

The NBA nor the Clippers are setup to project racism as a goal.

JBeam posted some TMZ story claiming he knew and told her to record him because he had a bad memory...IMO she was advised to say that b/c she broke the law recording him w/o consent.

Fair enough, I shouldn't state it as a fact. But, she apparently wasn't the one who leaked the tape to TMZ [ESPNBR interviewed the producer of this story earlier today.]

Who would they play? The Globetrotters and the Washington Generals?

Honesty I don't really know how it works. I was just making a point that he can own a basketball team, he just won't be allowed to participate in the NBA.
