And you know, by statistics, which doll is more likely to grow up and engage in negative activities. Quit ignoring the truth of the matter.

No, you just blamed it on the bad behavior of black people that these kids apparently see. I get it. I know where you stand on this issue. Please quite trying to shove your narrow minded view down people throats.

It's a dumb fricking test. You answer their question, you're a racist. There is no outcome that isn't racist with this study unless you honestly believe kids are going to pick randomly and then you are dumb as shite. Even if it were totally random, you still have to explain why you picked the doll and the only difference is their skin color.

I have not ignored that one bit. I am well aware of crime stats. And I am sure these little biddy kids are well versed in those stats and that is why they choose black. Please. Quit ignoring the truth of the matter.

Now you're just deflecting. This is why no one takes you seriously.

Exactly. The kids intuitively pick up the loaded questioning, but the only way they know to react is to answer they way the think the interviewer wants them to.

More of a study on psychology of persuasion and mind manipulation. Innocent people confess to murder based on this type of psychology.

again

even when the premise of the experiment is replicated and children are asked to give descriptions of the dolls to neutral open ended prompts ("Tell me about the doll", "tell a story about the doll", etc.), the descriptions are different. And you know which one gets more negative descriptions.

Or maybe you and the other guy are right. Racism starts on the 12th birthday.

First impressions are a fact of human psychology - whether based on race, physical appearance, gender or an accent. There is an evolutionary basis for this.

I did not deflect one thing. And yeah the gif from a kids movie does a really good job for you to be taken seriously.

Or maybe there is an innate distrust in the animal kingdom of those not of your "tribe".

It's not "racism", It's a survival tactic that was developed over millennia.

I do get what you are saying and agree mostly. But the black kids also give less positive, more negative descriptions of the black dolls. Same tribe. I know you know that racism exists. And it's not a belief that some of these values are instilled in children, (white and black) on overt and not so overt or unconscious levels

My kid came home in the 4th grade and asked me why Mexicans talk about sex all the time. So, you know what fricking Paddyshack meant.

What doll do you think my kid is choosing? It's not because we're racist either.

Here's the thing, I don't think it's racist to point out that the black doll is more likely to be the naughty one when that is actually what is happening.

I just don't identify with the term "racist" anymore. It has become an attempt to create cognitive dissonance. You have to lose your common sense in order to not fall under that label.

I am not blaming parents or anyone really. Society as a whole, even minorities is somewhat racist against minorities.

Although these captions were by two different people, it sort of captures it, albeit tin an exaggerated fashion.

Blacks loot, whites find, whites shop, blacks go through broken glass

So if you combine the first impression psychology, both learned via culture and innate, with the fact the persuasion/manipulation psychology of the loaded questioning (to young children no less), you get this result.

Whether you think the loaded question or the first impression is more weighed is up for debate. I think it's obvious to the kids that the interviewer is seeking a particular answer and the kid just wants to get it right. I think that's pretty terrible methodology.

Doesn't get to the point of why the kids choose the black doll in order to be right, but I just don't like the set up.

Perhaps they should show two dolls of the same race, one with blue eyes and one with brown.

I hadn't watched the video. Thought it was another different study (the one titled "is your baby racist").

Watching that video and not having a lot of info, I'd say the environment those kids grew up in isn't the best. That may be some of the reason they view "black" as bad and "white" as good.

or maybe nature has programmed us to immediately and instinctively associate white with health and black with rot.

Although off the top of my head I can think of things that don't fit that mold

I got it. Racism only occurs when people are hanged or there are separate water fountains. On a more serious note, kids get values and beliefs from all over school, home, friends, etc.. And by the way, Mexicans do not talk about sex anymore when regular whiteys.

To be fair, the black "looter" has a case of beer under one arm and who knows what in a full garbage bag.

The white lady has a loaf of bread.

It's not as if they are carrying the exact same things.
