Most people already consider them children.

And they are pretty fricking dependent on us.

I would like more money dammit. I treat my dog better than others treat their children.

Not soon enough. Heck dogs can be very expensive at times. But I think pets are largely seen as a luxury item.

...Then again, devil's advocate and whatnot, it has been proven that having animals greatly improves the quality of life of people. So it could be argued that pets are a necessity...

You are going to the wrong CPA. Go to one of the tax places in the Gardere area and your wish will be granted.

Just claim them. Doubt you will get audited.

The same can be said for alot of the trash in this country that reproduce for the sole reason of cashing in.

In like -30 years. People used to do it all the time, then the US requires SS#s and the number of dependents decreased exponentially. Either that, or a bunch of people unknowingly died.

Go ahead do it. Alternative Minimum Tax will eliminate the benefit anyway. Uncle Sam always gets his.

The greatest bane of my existence is people who refer to their pets as children and themselves as the "mom" or "dad" of the pet.

My pets are my damn property and will be referenced as such.

Write off the money you spend at dog obedience school, like college tuition for your kid.

If you're self employed claim dog as guard and write off related expenses.
