Neighbor is taking the dog to the vet tomorrow to get scanned for a possible chip. Will also mention this and see what we can do. Thanks for the info.

You're doing a good thing trying to find the owner, but "a hound dog with a rabies tag" isn't nearly descriptive enough for someone to know whether that's their dog or not.

That looks like one happy dog. Hopefully you find the owners soon. I understand the thought process behind not wanting to post the picture, but I also understand that the best way to find the owners is to have a picture of the dog.
Someone who knows the owners may recognize the dog from the pic and let the owner know....otherwise they may not have even ever knew their friend's dog was missing.

Not me. You can get whatever info you want from the person picking it up/claiming it. Ask who the vet is and give em a call and ask who the owner on record is. Glad it worked out
