I have two pound dogs and a pedigree Mini Australian Shepard. It's a pretty cool breed.

Jack Russell. Smart and small seem to fit well here.

I'm 49 years old and have 2 children (18 and 25). We had 3 Boxers during time period. Boxers are super family dogs, very intelligent and watchful over children. Bond really well with children. They are hyper while young, usually calm a bit after couple years.

We rescued a Goldendoodle when he was 5 months old. We have had him for 2 years now. I can honestly say that he is the best dog I have ever had. Since he has retriever in him, he did chew a good deal as a puppy. He doesn't shed or smell, but he does require several walks a day as well as some outside exercise time (he loves to play fetch).

I love mt Doberman, but i dont recommend them to most people. It is a dog for a very experienced owner and you have to be somewhat of an Alpha to control one. Im not being OTish on that. They are very stubborn and will continue to test you to see if they can become the pack leader.
