My beagle started doing this about 3 weeks ago out of the blue. Had him x-rayed and had torn a tendon in his foot. He was in pain so led to heavy panting.

They said, not much they could do except surgery and success rate was not promised. We put him on pain pills and anti-inflammatory.

Last Saturday he couldn't even walk and was so hard to watch. We had to finally put him to sleep

Best of luck and hope it's nothing serious.

Seems like something similar that happened to two of my mother's dogs after she fed them all kinds of leftover Thanksgiving shite on two separate occasions. (Both died.)

Sounds somewhat like the seizures my dog has. He gets them every few months. He can't walk well and he shakes and drools. Usually lasts about 4-5 minutes.

My brother had a 9 month old pump just get sick one day and died. He suspected the food. He changed the food but it was too late. His other dog that he had for 16 years died two days ago.

Both dogs two weeks apart. There was nothing else that could have done it.

It was Purina Beneful dog food. Apparently, dogs eating that and dying isn't rare. It has it's own Facebook page.

Good luck OP.

after about 45 minutes last night the shaking seemed to stopped. was still breathing relatively hard and panting for no apparent reason that seemed to stop about 6 this morning. I got a few hours of sleep and woke up at 8 and dog seems to be fine. gonna watch him closely and if anything starts again will take to vet

My dog did that once. I called 911. They sent a cop to my house. Problem solved.

Glad he's okay. Had a Pom once who would eat an acorn and have these symptoms. Luckily, she recovered, but had to watch her closely outside (especially this time of year).

Fear, glad your pup seems to be doing better.

So the surgery may not work so let's just kill our dog. Seems like a logical sequence of events. Great job exhausting your options.

Trash food. In fact the majority of what people feed their pets is trash. Go to a feed store and purchase something that is at least decent.

My female lab mix will exhibit similar symptoms as well as extreme clinginess this time of year. A few years ago we had a fire alarm Malfuction when she was home alone best guess it went off somewhere between 4-6 hours. Well she destroyed every window blind and one door trying to get out and upon me arriving home she ran away from home for About 12 hours...now she freaks out anytime the heater comes on or we cook because at one point in the past the smoke alarm went off. So she now associates the smell or temperature change with the smoke alarm sounding and starts acting crazy.
