I had no idea there was that much German heritage here. And why do Arkansas, Tennesee, Kentucky and West Virginia list themselves as "American" ? Are they just that dumb or are they more patriotic?

Would it be easier for you to accept us Tenneseans just say "non-African"?

it really doesn't suprise me at all...I am a bit confused as to what "american" ancestry means...if they are saying that their ancestors are primarily native americans, I have to call bullshite...

That doesn't seem like it could be close to accurate.

Not in the least. Some German general commented near the end of WWII that the US being an English speaking country was one of the great consequences in history. I believe German is the most prominent White ethnic/linguistic group in the country.

Listing the plurality as "Puerto Rican" in Puerto Rico is just lazy.

And why Africa always gotta be a country to you people? It's a continent of over 1 billion. Geez.

Just because German leads in those states says nothing for total numbers. Those are the least populated states.

That's actually really interesting. I never knew Germany had that kind of influential presence here.

That's roughly accurate. Keep in mind that they're talking about pluralities, not majorities. And white ethnicity is broken down by country. That matters a lot for this kind of chart.

Well we got most of our Germans before German unification, so Germany never had much "influence" here. Our early cultural and political leaders were almost entirely British, with some Dutch mixed in.
