Does the OT agree with the restrictions on NO's St. Louis Cemetery No. 1?

Just heard a story on NPR about how the archdiocese closed the cemetery to the general public earlier this year. Tour companies have to pay the archdiocese to operate tours, relatives have to apply for passes, and tourists can only enter by using a licensed tour company.

It sounds like tourists were doing tourist things and stealing things, taking inappropriate selfies, etc.

I don't live there, so I never knew that they put in the restrictions earlier this year.

Is vandalism of the cemetery as bad as they say?

Was the Marie Laveau pink painting incident one of the final straws?

Yes. It needs to be protected.

Well thanks to NPR, I now know about this cemetery's restrictions and some of the controversy that surrounded it. So, I'd say NPR did a pretty good job at informing me.

Well sure, but I didn't know if it was more NO residents or tourists acting like jackasses...or all of the above.

I like to go to the cemeteries sometimes. I don't want to pay to visit them.

Obviously the restrictions are bad and due to stupid liberal socialist agendas. But, you didn't hear that because NPR is run by the evil liberal media.

1. Is that Marie Loveau (sp?) grave? There are many marked with X's. Some by mistake.

2. Yes people would vandalize the shite out of it. The X's being part of it.

3. That area is SKETCHY. Don't want idiots out there alone. When is it cool to be in a graveyard? Night time. When is it unwise to be near North Rampart? Night time.

4. Also have they cleared the cemetery? Of bums and crackheads. The tour we took some 11 year old girl from the Midwest and her mom got the full NOLA experience. First to peer around a corner to see a crackhead going crackhead. Pants down pissing on top of a vault top and washing her heinous lady parts.

Oh dear indeed.

A few weeks ago I came across some girl bragging about pissing on Nic Cages future grave.

Had pics of her doing it and everything.
