Dont underestimate Southern. I doing great in engineering at Southern due to the quality of the teaching.
The Law program has even better instructors.

I know a few that graduated from there
1 is working on passing the CO bar (just missed first attempt
1 is working in prosecutors office in LAafayette parish
1 got a job straight out of school at a large firm in NOLA before opening her own practice and finally closed it down to work exclusively for a large corporation in their legal dept
And I know another that graduated, moved to Austin, and smokes pot and skateboards all day

Love when you post as well. Where would you rank Southern based on any post graduate work? Name one school that Southern is better than at anything.
As someone else posted, SU Law can be an option to mang hat do not want to wait around to retake the bar or have some financial concerns. Its still a law degree, and for someone that is from Baton Rouge, you can see why it might be more than just option.
You do have a lot of school spirit, its very interesting to say the least.

Or it could speak for the quality of student.
If you swapped southern's law students with LSU's, their ranks would pretty much swap.

Check out South Texas College of Law. Cheap and better job prospects.

Oh...I am not considering going to law school. I have not lived in BR since 2012. I heard that a distant family member just moved back to BR to attend SU Law School. So...I thought I would ask the title question.

Southern doesn't have a good anything

southern has a terrible law school
that doesn't mean that you can't be a good lawyer if you go through their program, though, because law school doesn't really do much to shape you into a lawyer or teach you how to actually practice law
if you go to SU you will be at a major disadvantage if you want to practice at a big law firm (unless you're at the very top and a minority) and you will be surrounded by a lower quality of student, but if you can get over your surroundings and the bad rep, you can still be a solid attorney
the reason why many southern grads have problems with the bar or are bad attorneys has nothing to do with southern. it has everything to do with those individuals simply not being apt for the job. if they had gone to harvard or yale, they'd still struggle in the real world.

It's for all aspiring attorneys who can't get into a real law school.

Good friend of mine went to southern. He went on to pass the bar on his first try and is doing very well practicing personal injury in central Louisiana.

that's true, but some of those people have financial issues or simply fricked off early on in undergrad. the SOLE fact that you go to SU law doesn't indicate your quality. hell the latter issue i listed above indicates a strong possibility of the right mentality to be a millionaire attorney. it indicates an aggressive, risk-taking personality that tends to lend itself to success when combined with intelligence and a drive (in this case, for money)

You might as well go to Mississippi College or Samford-Cumberland
That's my point. They are safe schools and are much better than Southern.

Can we just create a "Southern Law school" questions board? This question comes up once a month, minimum.

isnt MC private and expensive?
if you're going to a lower-level LS, no reason to go into lots of debt to get there
this really applies to Loyola

Are there any tier 1 schools in Louisiana ?
Posted on 8/30/15 at 10:21 am to SlowFlowPro
Fair enough, but I know you'll get a job if you go to MC. They fight for their graduates. It's impressive really. The Dean will personally help you find a job. They really take care of their own.
