Does being dropped from your insurance company mess up your credit score?

I got a letter in the mail saying I was dropped and that I had "an outstanding balance of $0.15".
The frick?
Short story shorter they made a mistake and reinstated me. Will effect my credit score?

Only way I can see it hurting your score is if you did not pay them and that is the reason for dropping you. In your case, no. They would actually have to put a field against you to the creditors.

Well on paper they dropped me because I didn't pay 15¢. That's where my concern is. I was essentially dropped for not paying my bill.
I wouldn't think someone would get dropped for not paying one bill... 15 cents at that. It was obviously a frickup but in the system I was dropped.

Screw credit and credit scores. That is for suckers.
Pay cash for everything, and forget about it.

Check your credit report. If it's on there as being late, your credit score is messed up and you should get in touch with the company to get it straightened out.

Did it go to collections? Insurance and other normal "bills" won't go on your credit unless they go to collections.

That is often the case but the only way to be sure is to check the report. It's free, so the OP might as well. In fact, he may want to wait a month to give them time to clear an early derogatory.

No. Insurance companies don't report to credit agencies because they bill in advance, so you never have a balance for services performed. They just stop covering you when you don't pay (like they did here).

Being dropped from your insurance carrier has nothing to do with your credit score. The only way your score will drop is if they report you for never paying the outstanding balance.

You might get dropped because you have a bad credit score
