Cades, I 'like' you and enjoy your posting so I would advise you to tread lightly here. Their influence is rather 'present'.

I know you were, but a lot of people believe it. The idea is too incredulous for me to take seriously.

you'd have to actually believe in the war between good and evil, that started it all, long long ago

and so, you likely don't believe in that, which is your option, having free will!

What's complicated about this? It's a bunch of rich elitests taking a name from a super secret and dead society to play special and cool.

It's the popular kids clique. That's it

What you have to consider is that these people (old families like Rothschilds) are humans, flesh and blood just like us. Think about how our families operate. Some cousins are frick ups. Some do well for themselves. Do you maintain ties with cousins separated over generations because your great great great great great great great grandfathers were brothers? Does this even make sense? People don't operate like that.

We are beyond good and evil. These are easy terms to make us feel better about 'us' and to distrust 'them'.

Not that these aren't useful, or even integral, ideas for humanity. Having some kind of purpose, a drive, a foundation of mythos - is necessary for human fulfillment, I think. Without conflict or an adversary, these instincts fall by the wayside - which, I'm afraid to say, is something very evident in Western (ie European) culture today.

well, maybe so, but you are still omitting one crucial detail of why we are here!

which is, to choose, between good and evil...it's a test

People with the most wealth and power want to keep it that way and make sure they lock the future generations down. It'd be dumb not to think that doesn't lend itself to some kind of organization behind the scenes of the richest 1% of the world and have an effect on what they want the rest of the world to experience/see or not.

Do I think a large number of influential people congregate and try to 'steer the boat'? Yes. Their interests and convictions aren't uniform, though. If they really were, we'd all be up shite creek.
