I know tech board but no one ever goes there, I think the local idiots at the NBC affiliate are screwing up the picture, I have direct TV and a 55" Samsung, on every setting on the receiver and TV the scoreboards are cut off side to side. Shreveport NBC feed.

The picture takes up the whole screen on my cheap Vizio. You sure you can't adjust the picture size on the TV?

Besides "zoom" and "picture size," see if there's an "overscan" setting. With overscan disabled, you should be able to see the image 1:1, but there may be junk in the area previously hidden by the overscanning.

KTAL has been the most ghetto broadcast in the world so I wouldn't be surprised.

Is it that your NBC affiliate may not be in HD on Directv? Biloxi has this same problem because the 4 year old NBC affiliate WXXV 25.2 came on the air to replace NOLA's WDSU after Directv launched locals for Biloxi but only allocated 4 spots for HD so they don't have enough bandwidth for WXXV 25.2 in HD so they take the SD feed and stretch it to fit the screen.
