Does anyone have experience with a slipped disk in their back?

I climb tanks for a living, inspecting them. Yesterday after climbing down from a 50' ladder, I felt a shooting pain from my lower back down through my left leg. It was instant and made me jump. I haven't felt any shooting pain since, but it's a dull pain from my lower back when I walk. I've never experienced anything like it before. Just an annoying pain. I'm going see a chiropractor friend tomorrow. What should I expect?

I have had a history of a slipped L5-S1 disc for a few years now.
PT taught me a few stretches that work to coax the disc back into place. Essentially you arch your back (backwards) with stomach pointed forward and hold
laying on stomach and then using arms to push shoulders up while keeping waist on the ground is another good one

So before you know what's wrong with your back, you're going to a chiropractor who might adjust it? I'd at least want some imaging done before I start on treatment.

Get an MRI soon; very soon...don't let this just go on; you could be making things worse for yourself in the future...find a good neurologist, or orthopedist...and get a serious opinion. Don't go to a freaking chiro. Get some PT and learn stretches.
I can recommend for PT: Brown Rogers on Jeff. Hwy. Peak Perfomance(various locations)
I recommend Neuromedical Ctr. for neurologist, PT and neruosurgeon if necessary

I'm fighting this right now, I have a 10 yr history with a herniated L-4/L-5.
True sign of a disk problem is numbness on the bottom of your feet followed by pain in one or both legs. The sciatic nerve runs across the top of your arse then down each leg, if something is pressing on it then you get the shooting dull pain.
Chiropractor can't do shite if it's injured

I'd see a neuro for an MRI before allowing any manipulation. Some can be fixed with PT but sometimes surgery is the only thing that will fix it

Discs dont slip. They bulge herniate protrude and rupture.
Eta: they also tear
