Does a Dr.'s appointment just mean you will be seen that day?

What's the point in scheduling a time?

Had an appointment at 12:30PM. The nurse didn't call for me until 2PM. The Dr's Assistant didnt see me until 2:30. I told him what was wrong and he went and told the Dr. He came back at 2:45 and told me what the Dr. wanted me to do, which was go to an imaging center, get an x-ray, and schedule a follow up. What the frick did I pay for and why did it take so long?

Yes I'm pissed.

ETA: I bet his arse was on the golf course literally phoning it in.

had an apt last Thursday. Been swamped at work so I called to cancel...they said it had already been cancelled. I would have been really pissed had I shown up for a cancelled appt.

Was this your PCPs office? If it was, I suggest finding a new PCP.

There are plenty of them out there that don't make you wait an hour and half to be seen for established patients.

if its one of the doctor's offices that charge you for missing your appointment you should have just left and sent them a bill for wages lost due to them not being ready in an acceptable amount of time.

also send them this emoticon

I see my doctor within 15 minutes of the appointment time. As long as you put up with that shite, you will continue to put up with that shite. Get a better doctor.

He was probably late coming from the hospital. It happens. I would however be pissed about the outcome of the visit.

Well, I'm sure there is some back story but kinda weird that one specialist would refer you to an Ortho but like others have mentioned, sometimes they can get caught in surgery or be called in for an emergency at the hospital.

When it comes to small specialty clinics it's a risk you run. Now, if this was a larger group like Ochsner usually you can see someone else without an extended wait because they have a larger staff, but you loose some of the one on one relationship.

I do agree that I think the staff should be more accommodating for upfront with their patients giving them honest expectations, but sometimes delays out of the physician control can happen. Other times, he just ran late at the golf course.

The only time we've had to wait an excessive amount of time (like a half hour or more) was at my wife's old OBGYN office. But the man was downstairs delivering a baby. When both times came for ours to be born, we saw how great the care was by the docs in the delivery room. Makes those short inconveniences at an appointment much more tolerable.

That place is a total disaster. I've never had an appt run on time while being there, and it usually takes from 45 min to 90 min for me to even get into the patient room... Thank god I haven't been in that shitehole in a while.
