Wife thought she was on bottom rung of a ladder. She was on the next step. Came down hard, broke her heel.

Any one here ever broke their heel?

Calcaneus fractures are bad.

End up getting secondary osteoartritis a lot with those too

We see Ortho in the morning. The walking in service couldn't do shite but give her oxycodon (it doesn't help much)

two friends of mine who broke their heels had to have surgery to fix...granted, they looked a lot worse than that on the xray, though...

Was your break like this (less severe, more severe)?

Surgery?

Don't let anyone decide how to fix that without a CT. Looks intra-articular and if there is significant displacement within the joint she needs surgery. Either way she won't be walking in regular shoes for almost 3 months.

Sucks but she should expect to never be 100% again and at some point in the distant future she will probably require a subtalar joint fusion (more surgery).

It is. She's definitely looking at surgery.

She broke it from one step up? How much does she weigh?
