Like the guy that created the water powered engine, he may meet a mysterious demise.

Makes 0 sense. Most of the population between 18-55 rarely sees a GP. Wellness visits are free under ACA. If anything crops up with me, I go to Ortho, or Dermatologist, or GI doc.

I don't even have a GP. A nurse practitioner at Walgreens can do 80% of what a GP does. So, I go to this doc, and he says you might have cancer, you need to see a specialist. S\I have paid him 1500 bucks in addition to my insurance premiums.

My wife's OB is her GP. I just don't see the merit of this system.

Interesting ideas, but his patients will still need insurance.

Yes, and he said that himself in your quote.

He isn't the only doc doing this, it's something of a "new thing" in the field these days to pay an annual fee so that you can get seen without having to wait forever. It works well for people with an HSA who are going to have to shell out anyway for checkups and such.

They'll file with your insurance, but you still have to pay the fee up front and your insurance can reimburse you

There are some outpatient P.T. clinics doing this now. They make you pay up front and give you all the information that you need to make the claim with your insurance company. This leads to better patient care as there is more time spent with the patient. It also cuts down on office expenses (less staff to file insurance claims) which leads to lower cost to the patient.

Is the ACA free? Are you telling me I can drop my BCBS policy and go to the doctor for free?

You do not have to pay a copay under ACA. Sure, Artie, sign up with this dude, and drop your insurance. Regardless, you need insurance. The doc even says so.

I'd do it for my kid's pediatrician if it meant I didn't have to sit in the waiting room for 2 hours every time I go

This is why I obtained a wife.

ETA: Although she probably costs more than $1,500 a year, so this might be a good deal after all...

You still need insurance. The doc says so. So I am going to pay 1500 on top of my already outrageous premiums?

I have kids and it would not be a good deal for me. List of docs kids have seen.

Pediatrician 3 times this year
GI Doc 2 times this year
ENT 2 times this year
ER visit 2 times this year
Take Care Clinic 6 times this year
Urgent Care 1 time

For us, it would be a waste as two of those peds visits had no copay and the other was 20 bucks oop. Plus, my sister is a pediatrician so if I have nay questions I'll call her and she can call in a script for my kids.

Yellowfin,

I'm pretty sure you are in Lafayette. Use Dr. Vasanth K Nalam as your pediatrician. he is next to Womens and Childrens. I have never waited over 15 minutes when bringing my daughter to see him.

Just get a clingy girlfriend. Much less expensive and she won't turn you down in bed like a wife will.
