I was edging my driveway a couple years ago with my gas weed eater. I was wearing safety glasses but I was sweating so much that I could barely see out of them from sweat dripping down them and fogging up. I couldn't clean them with my shirt because it was soaked and I was too lazy to walk 40 feet to my truck and grab a paper towel to clean them. I only had about 30 feet more to do, so I put them on top of my baseball cap. I'll be damned, not 30 seconds later, a pebble hit me so hard in the outside corner of my right eye that it left a small cut. There's no doubt it would have blinded me if it would have hit my eyeball.
You bet your arse I wear safety glasses every time I weed eat now.

For weed eating and edging, yes. I just grab my glasses from my range bag and use them. Someone can laugh at me but it isn't their eyes that are going to get damaged.

Not when I mow but I do when I edge and trim for sure.
