If I found out my kid was checking in someone else's metaphorical bowl to see what they had for any reason other than to make sure they had enough I'd be making him wear a dress made out burlap sacks to school until he got his fricking mind right

I forgot a pair of gym shorts and asked my wife to buy a pair at Walmart because there was no time to run home before my event started.
Hanger said "L" (my size) but the tag showed their true size... 3XL
I tied them tight and played that night. Since then, they have become my absolute favorite "Lazy Sunday" shorts to lounge around the house.

believe it is an innate character flaw in all humans that we need someone to look down on and something to make ourselves feel superior to others. For some, it's their itelligence. Others, their athletic skills. Others, their ability to attract the opposite sex, musical talent, wealth, car, ect.
One of the wiser teachers I had in high school once said people tend to want people they look down on and people they look up to. I think this is what, in some ways, prompts what some think of as racism. It's not really about race, it's about some people wanting to have a readily defined group that they think they're above.
As to Wal Mart clothes - there are some things that are quality and just cost less than other places due to lack of "elite" branding. Then there are some things that are not quite the same quality as other higher priced places.
Heck, nobody worries about buying their coca cola or groceries or beer or alcohol from Wal Mart cause it's the same quality you'd buy from anywhere. (Same brands too of course).

Only thing I wear from Walmarks are Wrangler jorts, for when I'm at home relaxing, and drawels. I don't care for the socks.

Marshall's has name brand clothes that were overstocked at the mall for cheaper than Walmart clothes proving Walmart shoppers are not smart

I buy Wranglers, socks, underwater and colored Tee shirts. Why not?

Actually, that whole stigma points to how easily manipulated you are.
You're allowing others to dictate the person you are rather than defining yourself.
This isn't just in regards to Wal Mart, but if you look closely at other aspects of your life, you'll begin to see a pattern.
Quit being a victim, and be who you want to be, not how you're defined by others.
