Do you usually buy generic or brand name groceries?

I've always gotten the brand name stuff even though it's more expensive. I've noticed that most people go for the "Great Value" or whatever generic stuff which of course does add up to save a lot of money overtime. Last week I forgot my debit card & only had like $40 in cash. I got all generic items (cereal, contact solution, diet cola, etc.) and boy oh boy can I tell that none of it is quite as good as what I'm used to.

Can y'all tell a difference? Wish I could get used to the generic stuff because it would save a good bit of money overtime but I don't see it happening.

Depends on what it is. Mayo & ketchup have to be brand name. Mustard doesn't matter.

Only thing I've noticed that's worse is the Sam's Choice Coke. That stuff is nasty. Just spend the extra 50 cents and get real Coke. I get the Walmart brand ice cream all the time. Its good stuff. The Walmart brand Oreos are really good too.

I usually go grocery shopping at HEB in the night. I've recently noticed that some organic veggies are cheaper than the regular ones. I guess nobody buys them during the day so come evening/night they knock down the price to get rid of it before spoilage

Always buy the most expensive item.

Have you ever asked yourself, "How can they sell this product for so much cheaper?"

Depends on what it is. I buy generic on some items if the quality and taste is the same. But if I'm cooking, I usually want the brands I prefer instead of generic. For stuff like styrofoam cups, aspirin, paper towels, etc generic will do.

Depends on the store and item. If I'm picking up just a bag of sugar for tea, coffee, etc. then there's really no reason to pick up the brand name. Places like Kroger have a pretty solid store brand with Private Selection as well.

There are a few things I'm particular about. Most of my pantry stuff I just order from Amazon so it's usually just produce and meat that I get at the store

For cheese, meat, etc.. I'll buy Kroger brand because you save more with a Kroger plus card.

Depends. Half of the stuff, especially canned goods, come off literally the same line. They just switch out labels.

HEB's house brands tend to be on par with, or better than just about every name brand label out there.

So, usually HEB.

Generic styrofoam cups may be ok. But DO NOT get generic Solo cups. These things are so freakin flimsy.
