Dad was a heavy drinker and smoker until age of 50, both his sister and brother died in their 60s. He’s 75 and still doing good, no idea how. I was impressed when he made it to 50

I plan on taking a mix of green tea, Adderall, and high dose steroids to propel me to 150, become ruler of the world and have about 300 children.
I'm going to go watch a video of the LSU band playing 'Right above it' and get psyched about this future.

I'm 58 days away from it. I think I'll make it.
My mom, who's 88, and dad, who is 92, are both still living. I attended my mom's grandmother's 100th birthday party.

I take it day by day, might not wake up tomorrow. It was eye opening a few years ago when my son hit the age in which I lost my father, at age 8.
I was 44 that day and my father died at 38. I feel like I won already. Every day I spend with my son since then feels like a bonus.
Life is short, unpredictable and unfair at times. Choose what you value and give it all you got. Don't waste your time on nonsense.

When I was a kid I thought I’d be dead by 18. When I made it to 18 I thought surely 25 was it. When I made 25 I thought oh shite I’d better maybe plan for a future
I’m 66 now with no sign of checking up or out. And now my younger wife is terminally Ill.
So, who fricking knows?

Statistically, if you make it to 40, you are likely to see 65. I expect to. But who knows.

The converse of that is that medical technology continues to advance. That's a concern in and of itself though. I don't want medicine to keep my body alive long after my mind is shot.

A lot of people say they’re not scared to die.
Well fellas, I’m scared as frick. I dread the day.

My dad is 62 and jacked. He’ll still come out to the job occasionally, grab a sharpshooter and out work any 30 something on the site. He’s taught me not to fear old age.

Agreed….i am not at all afraid of dying. It is what comes between now and that time that concerns me a little. I’ve got a couple of health conditions one or the other of which is likely to spell my demise. Unfortunately, neither one is a particularly good way to die.

Well yeah. I see no reason why I won’t pass 100 with flying colors.
My goal is to spend the majority of my life as a retired occasional gentleman.
I still plan to get fired from a job at least once. I also plan to serve a minor jail sentence involving nudity when I’m in my 70’s, committing a repeat offense every decade after that until I’m worm food.

Not sure, but I do think about it fairly regularly.
My mom passed at 49 years old from an aneurysm and my dad died at 64 from cancer.
But both grandparents lived to fairly ripe old ages and I had two great grandmothers who lived past 100.
So, I really have no idea. Just thankful to have made it to 53 and to wake up each day.

I'm 46. Some days I feel as young as 21 and some days I feel the walls closing in on what time I have left to accomplish everything. Unless I can will myself to become a tough old bastard like an Helio Gracie, I'm not sure living to be 80 or 90 would be a worthwhile a goal.

I bought a 20 year term policy last year and it’s not THAT $$ so apparently Lincoln National thinks I’ll make it to 70. I watched my dad go sedentary in his 40’s, have 4 bypasses at 53 and never fully recover. Always full of fluid and never had that “wow” moment that so many people talk about after having bypasses. I’m 51 and it’s constantly on my mind. He died a slow death at 71 after several years of dialysis. Although not in perfect shape, I am more aware of my health and weigh much less than he did and am way more active. If I don’t want to go to the gym or ride my bike I think of him tethered to that dialysis machine for hours upon hours. No way to live.

Climate change will get us all in next 5 years or so.

I’ll probably see 65. But not how I want to. I won’t see 90, like I’d want to.
I feel like I’ve gained knowledge on how to live a long, healthy life. The Peter Attia podcast has been instrumental.
But stress and being overwhelmed ruins it for me. I don’t have it in me to go from 5am to 10pm with work, wife, kids, exercise, side income, grad school and not binge on some shitty food. I don’t sleep well consistently. I cut workouts short too often. I need to work on mobility but there’s always a reason not to.
So I think I’ll make it to 65, but when I get there, I bet I’ll have some regrets.
