Do you think the Dallas to Houston bullet train will ever happen?

It would be awesome to be able to get to Dallas in under a hour and a half. Would make going up for day trip to visit friends super easy. I’m rooting hard for it. What you think?

I think it will. If any state can do it, IT'S TEXAS, BITCHES!

Maybe, there would be other bullet trains before Dallas/Houston though. But I have my doubts Americans fly and generally like to drive, it’s part of our culture.

Yes going to build it bigger better and with a Bucees.

I hate driving more and more with all the drivers staring at their laps and not the road. I think its a relief whenever I travel east and don't have to drive anywhere.

Eh, it's 100% private money. The land negotiations between Hou and Dallas are still to be negotiated and will be a bear, regardless of population density. While it may be a bit quicker to board than traditional airline travel, it will still not be as a fast as a flight. The price point was pretty much on par with an airline ticket. Both Houston and Dallas have two airports, it's not like getting to the airport is terribly difficult.
The biggest challenge will be securing the necessary funds and then securing the necessary land.

If you own a car and have a place to park in your destination, it wouldn't make much sense honestly. Its 1.5 hours right? Include your 20 minute drive to and from the train station if not more. That's now over 2 hours. Then you factor in the train times that you have to plan for and cost of tickets, for 2 or more people it would be cheaper to drive most likely.

Yes...only, it will run from Atlanta to DC (via Charlotte) instead.

Heard this was an issue as some big, influential land owners don’t want a railway through their land.

The problem with trains in the USA, is unlike Asia and Europe our population is spread out in monster suburbs and not in deep concentrations in the city outside of NYC and a handful of other places. Trains are fantastic for going city center to city center, but if you are going from the Woodlands to Fort Worth, a train won't make much sense at all. Once you rule out large portions of the population like that, it makes less and less sense.

I imagine at some point there'll be one on the East Coast that connects DC, Baltimore, NYC, and Boston. It's only a little over 400 miles between DC and Boston so that would connect some cities with huge populations. It would be ~1hr from DC to NYC and then another hour to Boston.

Beg to differ.
Because I include hours of my life wasted sitting in traffic as terrible difficult.

Yup, it is happening.
I think it is a waste, but private money so roll with it.
