Do you think older people should be required to take regular diving tests?

It's medically proven that senses decline with age. Many of the same characteristics in drunk drivers are seen in older people with declining senses and weakened motor skills.
Some states do some sort of testing. Why isn't this a universal requirement?

100% agree they should...Old people are terrible and dangerous drivers

Yes. I refuse to ride with my grandmother. Luckily, she doesn't fight it these days. My sister says she's been in the car with her and she turned off her engine at every stop sign and red light.

It depends on how deep the water is.

Yes. My 91 year old grandfather still drives. When I visit and he drives somewhere it is full on white knuckling it. He will try and use the cruise control in neighborhoods or downtown areas with stop lights every few feet.
But he is a WW2 vet, I can't tell him shite.
If diving test, the old folks should be ok with proper swim trunks.

only if they intend to dive below one atmosphere

Over a certain age there should be supplemental tests.
What that age is I don't know.
If you're fit and you pass the tests then you maintain your privilege of driving on public roads.
Slightly off topic but smartphone users and texters are much more dangerous though.

Why not everyone?
I could see an arg for this, but it's almost asking too much. It's a fact that older people become worse drivers as they age, so it makes sense to start at a certain point once older.

I honestly don't think this should be limited to the elderly.
Every day when I'm on the road in Baton Rouge I find myself flabbergasted when I realize how many idiots managed to procure a driver's license.
I would say that every person should have to get their license renewed about once every 8-10 years, particularly if you have been involved in a number of accidents or traffic violations.

I guess that depends on whether you believe global warming is real or not

I think everyone should take a refresher course every 5-8 years.
An 8hr class, maybe practical as well.
