Alive at Fox River State Penitentiary with Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.

Anyways, it's a good story, but it doesn't matter. He's dead by now.

Since you are so good at disregarding the obvious, you know, that he jumped out of an airplane, at night, in bad weather, over rough country, was never seen again and some of the money he was carrying showed up years later in the same area, what evidence do you have that he survived?

Let's look at your evidence that he is dead.

1. He jumped out of an airplane- Survivable. The FBI felt that he was probably an ex paratrooper or ex military with parachuting experience. He had access to four parachutes, yet chose the most They thought he chose it because it was an older type, one he may have been more familiar with.

2. In bad weather- Survivable. He jumped at 10,000 feet. The temperature at that altitude was about 20 degrees that night. As he descended, the temperature would have climbed. While I cannot find the temp. for 11-24-1971, they average in the 40 degree range at night. He would not have been exposed to 20 degree weather for long since he was descending.

3. Over rough country. He could have landed and hung in a tree or hit a field. This is cool fodder for speculation, not evidence of anything.

4. Was never seen again. I will assume you mean that the crime was not conclusively solved since we have no idea if he was ever seen again. There is a fairly long list of people that could possibly be DB Cooper. The fingerprints recovered were in poor shape and unusable to ID anyone. There is a partial DNA profile. When DNA first became a tool his sample had degraded to the point that it was unable to include or exclude any of the possible suspects that had been identified.

5. Some of the money he was carrying showed up years later in the same area. Impossible to say since they have never been able to accurately identify the area that he jumped over. The money recovered was 20 miles from where they guessed he jumped. A geologist was brought in and concluded that it had been buried by a dredging project. 9 years after his jump, the rubber bands were still intact, suggesting that the packets had been somehow protected.

What evidence do you have that he survived?

They cross referenced air speed, radar, time in flight, altitude, wind speed, wind direction, drag coefficient, thermal push, and possible altitudes at parachute opening. They graphed an area that they thought he would have landed in. They brought in 1000 troops and searched the grid. Nada.

There is no hard evidence that he lived or died that I am aware of. You say there is evidence that he died but only presented a few speculations and irrelevant facts. The FBI is still looking for him so what do you think they think?

I watched this same shown on the Anglin brothers escape from Alcatraz. The twist about them hiding in the cave on the opposite side of the island and catching a pull from the boat was something I had never heard before. All of it sounded plausible. I was still skeptical until they did the facial recognition of the photos from them in South America. The facial features matched too perfect not to believe the story.

What a lot of people don't know about Cooper is that after he made his heist a few copycats did the same thing with the same type of plane and survived, only to be caught. So it's certainly survivable.

From an article:

According to information obtained by a British newspaper, the FBI was aware of rumors that the Anglin brothers were in Brazil as early as 1965. Agents were reportedly dispatched to Rio, but found no credible evidence that the fugitives were there.

If they did make it, why is the FBI wasting money chasing leads on two old guys living in another country? I mean seriously? You think two Special Agents really give two shits about apprehending two guys that escaped from Alcatraz 30 years ago that aren't harming anyone right now? I always hoped those guys would leave a letter in a safe deposit box to be sent to a paper when they die detailing how they escaped. I love the movie.

Sometimes common sense is just too easy.

And DB Cooper totally made it.

I want to think they escaped Alcatraz, it certainly is possible but it's hard to believe that 3 career criminals that have been in and out of prison most of their lives would be able to just quit committing crimes with the flip of a switch. Even if they changed their names and moved to South America they would stick out like a sore thumb. I think maybe 1 or 2 of them made it but not all 3 of them. Very intriguing story.

I dunno. Brazil is a real melting pot. There were a ton of Europeans immigrating there at that time. Some Confederate officers even ran away down there and started a colony of sorts. They might be seen as just another someone from somewhere else running away from something.

Wasn't the photo from Brazil sent by them to family? I can't remember for certain.

I mean I know little about it but he's most likely dead.

I kind of hope he is a live though and just spends his days sitting in a recliner and laughing his arse off at the shows about him dying or not

Sundance Kid: It's your great ideas that got us into this mess. I never want to hear another one of your great ideas. Ever!
Butch Cassidy: Australia. I thought that secretly you wanted to know so I told you.
Sundance Kid: That's your great idea?
Butch Cassidy: The latest in a long line. We get out of here alive, we go to Australia. Goodbye, Bolivia. Hello to Australia.
Sundance Kid: Australia is no better than here.
Butch Cassidy: That's all you know.
Sundance Kid: Name me one thing.
Butch Cassidy: They speak English in Australia.

The device since installed to prevent the stairs from being opened mid flight is called a Cooper vane because of this incident.

I would just like to mention that Christina Applegate was born the day after D. B. Cooper hijacked this plane.

I never knew the McCoy connection. Sure seems like that was Cooper. Same type of aircraft and the tie clip with McCoy's initials left in the plane from Cooper's jump.
