Because you don't know what you're talking about. Do you think that a person who commits suicide is thinking rationally, free from delusions and distorted thinking, etc? It's is entirely possible for a parent to kill themselves thinking that by doing so they're removing the burden they believe they place on their children. Depression can seriously alter your ability to accurately perceive reality, relationships, your ability to accurately evaluate your own self-worth or importance to loved ones, etc. If you do any reading on the subject you'll learn just how common it is for a person to kill themselves fully convinced that taking their own life is in the best interest of their loved ones.
ETA: People need to understand just how distorted the thinking of a person who is truly suicidal can become. You can't apply standard methods of judgment when they're not capable of thinking rationally while in that state.
