Some money experts say to.

I'm always looking to save 13 cents on a loaf of bread.

If it's a cash purchase, absolutely every time. You have to realize most people selling items for cash are looking for a quick buck and when you show them a wad of cash, they will fold at a lesser offer

You don't purchase hookers, you rent them. They're people not property, show some respect.

People that haggle (outside of huge purchases like cars, furniture, etc where it's socially acceptable) are the fricking worst.

During my undergrad I worked at an electronics store and we'd get these dregs of society come in and try and fight for two hours to get us to knock 20% off a mouse pad. Like bitch, this thing only costs $5. Why are you doing this?

The haggle shite is why I stopped selling things on Craigslist. I'd try to blow something out at a ridiculous price just to get rid of it, like a barely used set of tires for $50 with the ad reading "WILL NOT LOWER PRICE. FIRM OFFER." Then people'd show up and be like, "Eh...I'll give you $15 for the four tires." This, after I told them over the phone the price was firm.

That's not even haggling if it's after a price was agreed. It's being a spineless shite bag.

This, actually.

I do all my research and go into each vehicle purchase with a set amount of what I'll take for my trade in and what I'll pay for the new truck. You'll either take the offer or I'll move on instantly if not. This haggling shite is ghetto on both sides.

Cars, antiques, furniture. That's it in the US.

If I'm in another country. I will absolutely haggle. If they know you're American the price automatically went up 25% at minimum.

No, I don't. I will, however, practice haggling every so often at the flea market. It's actually pretty fun to do.

Exactly. Lot of times I tell my personal assistant to have the sales person round up to the nearest $100 so I don't have to deal with change.

my wife.

she can hand the clerk at target something and say 'hey this has a scuff on it' or 'this box is trashed' and they give her anywhere from 10-30% off right there at the register.

she amazes me.

My bank offers this as a service. It's awesome. I might have to drive 50 miles to pick up the car, but it's worked out great twice.

No.

And when I was in retail, asking for a discount was a sure way to get on my non-preferred customers list.

Wait...people actually do this at retail stores?

What authority would the cashier even have to lower the price?
