I meant to say what is your reasoning behind thinking north Louisiana is southern and why south Louisiana is not.

I consider Texas, Texas. It's its own country.

Louisiana, Miss, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, S. Carolina are southern to me.

I have no idea what Florida is

I moved from Baton Rouge to Naples, FL 5 months ago and it is definitely NOT Southern. While beautiful, clean, no crime and fantastically wealthy, it is a bunch of people from the NE, Canada and the Midwest who live here for 6 months and then haul arse outta here. I am waiting for the bars to be ghost towns in a couple of weeks.

Any state that fought for the confederacy is southern.

Anyway, East Texas is definitely southern bible belt. Central Texas is Midwestern heartland. West Texas is desert southwest coast like Arizona and New Mexico.

So yeah, I guess Texas is southern.

I really enjoy visiting florida, I'm not sure if I'd like to live there though.

Dallas and Austin are nowhere near southern though

30-40 miles north of Dallas is more Midwestern too.

I don't know T92, it is pretty spectacular. Going to Wal-Mart and parking next to a Bentley and having a sweet grandma ring you up isn't bad. I don't miss Baton Rouge

Like some people said in the beginning of this thread...

Geographically - yes
Culturally - no

I might consider parts of south east Texas southern. But the rest, it's another country, and thankfully so, cause that whole Texas pride is quite laughable.

But the comment about southern LA not being southern is quite wrong. South LA, in parts, is the old south, elegant, plantation style. North LA matches with the rest of the south because it's another element of south, BBQ, Duck Dynasty, woods etc

No. We are much too forward thinking and enlightened to be considered a Southern state.
