You know all the stores and malls will be decorated for Christmas the day after Halloween, Christmas music on the radio usually starts Veterans Day.

When does the "Holiday Season" start?

IMO, the holiday season means Christmas and New Years so it starts in December for me.

I love Thanksgiving, it's my favorite holiday, just don't consider it part of the "holiday season." Probably should though.

Thanksgiving has overtaken Christmas for me

When your parents are divorced Christmas sucks arse, I don't like doing "2 Christmases", so I don't even bother going home for Christmas anymore. It's been almost 10 years since I last spent a Christmas with my family. I just do my own thing. I have a yearly tradition of going to Jack in the Box on Christmas, as its usually the only place open

I go home for Thanksgiving though, because its the only time my family is together. I always fly home on the morning of Thanksgiving as you get ultra cheap flights if you fly the day of.

How is it depressing?

Thanksgiving is the only holiday that isn't majorly commercialized. It is all about family and the harvest. They have tried to commercialize it by making "Black Friday" shopping start on Thanksgiving but many stores are backing away from this, going back to Friday as the start of the shopping day.

I agree with all of this. Thanksgiving is awesome.

Black Friday is dumb. Anyone who camps out for that shite is a retard. I was in Alaska for the Great Alaska Shootout a few years ago and the news station there was interviewing morons camping out in -10 degree weather for Black Friday. Yeah you get good deals but is it really worth all the trouble?

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite too. Something about stuffing your face with dressing and turkey with your loved ones

I dont know why Thanksgiving is deppressing to me. I don't like the food, I dont like spending time with extended family, I dont like day drinking. And every year it never fails that Thanksgiving is cold and cloudy outside. There is no Thanksgiving music, Thanksgiving movies etc. And NFL football is a snooze fest.

I am always deppressed during Thanksgiving.

I agree with this.

When I played football in college, we didn't get to go home for Thanksgiving as we had a game that week and had to stay at school and practice. So we'd have food catered to us every day of the week while the rest of the school was out.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday we were all served the same food - Thanksgiving food. All 3 nights. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc.

So by the time Thursday rolled around, we were like frick that shite, and would go to a place that was open like Denny's instead.

To this day I still hate Thanksgiving food because I got sick of it during my college years.
