That would all depend on what you consider a good dictator to be. Almost no one would agree on this.

Benevolent Dictator = Oxymoron

To "dictate" one tells people what to do.

Does anyone here like to be forced to do any whim of a stranger?

Benevolence is subjective, John Calvin thought he was benevolent, check out how some of his adherents (who also thought themselves benevolent) treated starving Irish folk during the Great Famine.

Lee Kuan Yew in Singapore was about as benevolent as a dictator gets. Park Chung Hee in South Korea put his political enemies in prison and stifled some freedoms, but he did a lot of good as well.

A stranger? A dictator does not typically just fall out of the sky. Dictators are usually someone in a favorable position with the people of his/her country or in a favorable position with aristocrats who hold power over others. In other words, a majority of people in these countries already believe--rightly or wrongly--that this person has some sort of claim to the position of power. The propaganda of a dictator and the propaganda of a major political campaign aren't that far off from one other.

After the power has been seized it's a much more difficult task to maintain it because you have to start delivering on your promises or unrest will cause your fall. The evil dictators are the ones who clamp down and use bloodshed to stay in power. But plenty of benevolent dictators in history used good governing to stay in power.

A dictator can be Aladeen or he can be Aladeen. It all depends on if the man was Aladeen or Aladeen before he became dictator, IMO

As in, doesn't commit mass genocide, try and take over the world, etc.

I'm more on the "absolute power corrupts, absolutely" frame of mind.

There is no country in the world where the population universally thinks alike unless they are forced to out of fear, so... no there can't be a good dictator.

A good one would do this country some good. Get in and take a chainsaw to this monstrosity we call government. Take care of all the things that are ailing this country with out all the BS red tape and compromising. Then after a time and after some reworking of the government system we hold elections and he leaves office. All past politicians and anyone affiliated with the previous government is banned from ever having connections with the new one.

This country is heading to hell in a hand basket with a quickness, one of the few ways I can see it getting righted besides it just splitting in two.

I don't think that's possible. In order for there to be a dictator, prime already in power have to back the new guy wanting power.

With this world being full of miserable shitty individuals ie fatneck, of course it wouldn't work. More like a what if in a perfect scenario. Ideally thats how it would work.
