Do you believe in astrology/zodiac signs?

I've never been much into that stuff. But I couldn't sleep last night, so I did a little Googling. I still don't believe in the horoscope crap, but I'm a Virgo. And what I read was pretty spot on my personality: how I act, what I'm attracted to, etc. It even said most Virgos seek employment in journalism, which I'm in. Kinda creepy.

i feel like they write these things that anyone can relate to them. they leave them pretty broad and open to interpretation.
that being said i have seen some that had specific info that did relate (like your journalism).

Wait, so you think horoscopes are bogus, but you give weight to zodiac signs? You are not a very discerning person, and are easily convinced of things. Maybe read a science book or something.

I am not into horoscopes but over the years I've noticed that signs certainly matter when it comes to who you fit with in terms of dating.
I always ask their sign and read about them. You'd be surprised how much that's said about the sign that fits that person.

Maybe you need to read my OP. I said I was never into that stuff. And I do read, a lot. I crave knowledge. That's why I study things. If you knew me, you'd know I'm one of the most skeptical people there are.

Astrology is a good exercise in contrasting knowledge with garbage. Specifically, focus on "mechanism." How does the alignment of the stars and planets at birth cause a person to have certain personality traits? Until you can explain that mechanism, or at least have some sound statistical studies that show a strong correlation of certain traits to certain stellar/planetary alignments, you don't really have a reasonable basis for believing that it can.
Contrast astrology with something like Darwinian evolution, which is well understood and whose genetic mechanism is also now pretty well understood even though it wasn't at the time that that theory of speciation was proposed. There is just no plausible theory underlying astrology's supposed correlation of personality traits to planetary/stellar alignments.
