Seems like a pretty pointless profession with the access to information that is readily available. These national guys like Dan Wolken just use their platform to spew biased opinions and political viewpoints.

Props to those guys for getting paid to do what they do though.

Well how are you going to access that information if they aren't accumulating/uploading it for you?

We definitely don't need 10-20 24/7 sports channels. The SEC network is a good example of bad TV outside of televised games.

I work in broadcast news and our sports department is as bare bones as it gets, and I am in a Top 50 market

We don't have any pro sports teams here, but college sports are huge.

We basically have one full time sports anchor and that's it. I hardly even see him, he is generally only on for the 11pm newscast.

Don't let Cauble hear you. He'll come yell at you that his job matters.

Yes.

Though I'd prefer higher quality sports reporting. Good writing is a lost art in sport reporting.

Pretty much anyone with a linkedin page who works around something involving money is a financial or business analyst.

No fricking way unless you're a 10pm anchor that's been there over 15 years.

I miss the highlights. They are harder to find now than in years past. Now there's a lot more talking about sports and less showing sports.
