Do the things you say and do while really drunk count?

I have a buddy whose wife got really drunk and got a DWI and said some really hurtful things that night. Does being drunk cause you to say and do things you don't mean or does it reveal who you truly are?

People say what they really think whenever they're drunk. It's like the filter comes off.

Drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts.

I don't think so. Its more of a way of unleashing all the stress built up in your life that you wouldn't do sober. A lot of times it's true to a degree but over exaggerated due to built up emotions

I don't think it's always true. Sometimes people who are drunk say things because they want to be hurtful, regardless if it's true or not.

No they don't count. Being drunk give a person the right to say anything to anyone without consequences. Women definitely understand this.

If you are a guy you are responsible for everything you do while you are drunk.

If you are a woman you can't be held responsible for anything you do while drunk.

Not sure. I have never been drunk and don't ever want to be around one.

They matter to those that hear them.

Was buddy sober when he heard those words? If so, I think it is like algebra and 2 negatives.

Pretty sure.

Being drunk makes you stupid. That could mean that it makes you say things that you are really thinking but know better than to say, it could mean that it makes you express yourself poorly and say something inappropriate but different than you really think, or it could make you lash out with emotions and just try to say hurtful things without thinking about the consequences beyond the moment. There is usually some context to where you can make your own decisions about the meaning, but in general you need to take things a person says while drunk with a grain of salt.
