The primary benefit of polarization is to cut glare - specifically as it only allows 1 plane of light to pass, filtering the remainder.
So, does rain cause "glare"? I don't think what we consider "glare" really applies to refractive/reflective effects of rainfall, road spray and other moisture effects that reduce visibility while driving in the rain, but the cumulative effects on light are similar and, perhaps, technically fit the difintion of a whole swarm of "microglare."
I think that sunglasses will probably add to the darkening effect of the generally cloudy conditions, but I see the potential for helping cut through the refractive/reflective effects of the rain to a degree.
Bill Nye ladies and gentlemen.

Mine do to a certain point. Once it gets too dark it hurts

Only helps when drivers have their flashers on though.

I was driving to Houston Tuesday and it started pouring.
I couldn't see shite...slipped on a pair of Costa 580 green lens glasses and could see a good bit better through the windshield.
I say Yes.
