Only as long as she isn't aware it's an open relationship.

Yes, they can. But it's a small minority of couples that even try it and the ones that work/last are very rare.

if the couple is very open minded, they can work for a short while...eventually one or the other will get jealous and the shite will explode...

The relationships I have observed that have lasted the long term look dreadful.

I'm sure they can for some people, just not me

Some do, though I believe it is very rare. I would assume most of the ones that last are ones that involve mature (older?) people who have realized they love each other and trust one another enough to allow others into their relationship. Lots of functioning relationships on r/poly

Since Wiki is no longer posting I can only imagine his common law share piece found his account and thus proof that even the best open relationships are doomed.

My buddy and his wife have one, and they're doing great. They've been married 7 years now. But they're not the norm I'm sure. I get jealous of him at times because his wife is into girls, so he's always pulling 3 ways all while I'm begging the wife for a bj.
But when I sit back and think about it, that lifestyle wouldn't mesh well with me over the long haul.

Have a friend who had open marriage for about 11 years. Started out slowly and he had LOTS of fun, but as someone already stated it all fell apart. Guess it's hard to keep everything balanced. I saw the pics, she was bringing very hot chicks home and they went out to some "clubs" in Houston. So in a nutshell no.......

Maybe at first, but it won't last. Always ends ugly.

Agree, but I'm friends with three couples who have made it work and still have happy marriages.
Two of the couples have both spouses who travel frequently (weekly) for business. What happens on the road, happens and then they are back home together. This dynamic is different than coming home one evening to see your spouse getting dressed to go on a date or seeing them come home from a date or seeing them in bed with another. They don't fool around with others while they are home.
The third married couple is in a long-term cuckold relationship. She not only sleeps with who she wants, she actually dates guys openly. They are both great people and professionals, and the guy is strong in all aspects of his life except this. He's not bi and doesn't join his wife with her guys, but he really gets off on her seeing other men.
I've no interest in this sort of relationship, but it works for them - they are very happy.
Like I said, though, I think you're correct overall and these three are the very rare exceptions.
