I always heard that it was surprisingly safe city, but the movie “Sicario” makes it look like Little Mexico.

Can any posters personally attest to the quality of life in EP?

I now see why Trump wanted to build a wall.

You only have like a 1 in 5 chance of being kidnapped for ransom money each day, so it is pretty safe. Movies always exaggerate things.

I’m in El Paso regularly for work. It’s an incredibly safe town.

Nice people. Some really good Mexican food.

No amount of money would ever make me live there.

Very underrated city and well over 320 days of sunshine a year.

I like El Paso. It's one of the safest bigger cities in the country. I've read before that the cartels like to keep things tamped down and keep a low profile in order to maintain it as an entry point for drugs.

It used to be that if you went to Albuquerque on business or pleasure, you had to swear and sign that you would not be driving the car south to El Paso. El Paso as a destination meant you would not get a rental car.

Lo mismo, hoy dia?

All the craziness stays across the border in Juarez. I just looked up crime stats, murders per 100,000 LINK

Baton Rouge 38.26
New Orleans 39.50
El Paso 2.76

El Paso is safe and clean and has some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Don’t get your worldview from cartel movies

I’d live there no problem

Pro tip: El Paso’s “ethnic” population is much easier to live with/among than the one we have here

Exactly.

Especially safe if one keeps themselves bound, gagged, and blindfolded, in their own home on a daily basis.

All of this. I’ve been for work. It’s safe. It’s also ugly and boring.

The westside isn't too bad of a place to live if you like a desert climate.

Obviously some of the best mexican food around.

Not exactly a place I would chose to live, but my time there wasn't too bad.

Pretty town (typography at least). Definitely the forgotten Texas city.

I'd be concerned with it being 500-600 miles from any other big city. But if you don't get bored easily I'm sure it's fine. The older/middle aged colleagues that I know who are based out of El Paso like it, but a number of the younger ones have transferred to Phoenix and San Antonio.

If I didn't have a family, year or two if I were 15 years younger and had the option. If it's anything like Phoenix or San Antonio, I'd probably like it a lot.

I’d be more worried about whether your captors have been vaccinated or not because this virus is dangerous
