Any good suggestions on chemicals to buy, where to buy them, and proper treatment of the yard?

I don't know of a specific method for mosquitoes. I typically buy some general purpose bug killer (i.e. spectracide) from lowes or hd and a garden sprayer. at the end of the instructions booklet there is generally a section that tells you how much to mix for killing pests around the home like spiders and mosquitoes. mix it the way it says and spray around the base of your house, in flower beds, and around windows and doors. this will keep mosquitoes and spiders at bay pretty well. no way to keep them completely away, though.

Malathion. Put in a pump sprayer. Get out your blower. Go to town fogging your yard. Just wear a handkerchief over you mouth and nose, long sleeves, and some goggles.

This. There are plans online to build a simple bat house. It really works, is free, and eco-friendly.

Just make sure you don't have any standing water around your house. That's the most important thing, really.

I have done that but I have some areas that don't get enough sun so ground stays "damp". plus my neighbor (rental house) has an over grown back yard so I have a feeling a good bit of them are coming from there.

Just think spraying is my best option.

My kids are just getting eaten by these mf'rs

Yep. No standing water. I have found keeping leaves raked and bagging grass clippings helped a lot too. Keeping a clean yard in general. The pesticides became too much trouble. I am better off now with a completely clean and dry yard.

If you're not moving around much and just hanging around the back yard or whatever... fans. Powerful fans. Not only does it move your carbon dioxide exhales away but they simply can't withstand the air power.
