Probably obtained it without her knowledge and it wouldn't be permissible...at least that's my guess.

It divorce, it could be, but this judge was a mans worst enemy. She tried to crush him and his lawyers balls the whole time.
And he only got 50/50, because the Mother didnt want the kid that long, 3-4 days was enough for her.
PS that kid, he was the one who was kidnapped and found years later at pizza guys house. His story was all over news n shite.

If it was an agreed settlement, then there is no way a judge would approve it without her signature. Obviously it would be pretty hard to prove that she didn't know if her signature was on the agreed order. Furthermore, I have never seen an agreed order that did not have each parties initials on each page followed by a full signature, date, and notary on the last page. Again, a judge is not going to accept it without this. It's common practice.
As far as contingencies goes, criminal cases and divorce cases are the only two instances an attorney is barred from taking on a contingency basis (according to the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct; states are free to make their own, but most go with the ABA). In short, her attorney could not take the case on a contingency fee basis unless FL is different than the ABA.

Well, when you think about it..there is normally a place for everyone who finishes law school. Even if they are a fricking nutjob. Especially judges...they have put in their time of collusion with old schoolmate lawyers and whatnot and are reaping the benefits.
I remember I once had to go to a magistrate for traffic citations when I was under 18 and this guy(magistrate) was nuttier than a fruit cake, he actually said to me and my father when were about to leave to "Vote for me in November' to which my father replied, 'What office are you running for?' and the magistrate says, 'Emperor of the World.' My old man, looked at him and said, 'Ok, buddy.'

what was the timeline? i believe you can take property settlements in some areas (like LA) on contingency if the divorce is finalized. i was advised by an ethics attorney to never do this b/c if anything comes up, they will comb through your file to find some other violation to nail you. it's legal to do so but is frowned upon, per him (which i don't even get but i digress)

The idea is not to make the attorney have an interest in turning a divorce proceeding even more acrimonious than it actually is by allowing his compensation to be influenced by the outcome. You can after the fact agree to take your agreed payment from proceeds of the estate (often property), but the amount can't depend on the split of the estate.
