OP my advice is to ignore it and just focus on having a good time with your family. The more you think about it, the more you're letting it get to you and affect your vacation. I know it stinks because I've been there, you just really have to look the other way.

Very good advice but I suck at this. Not just talking about the fat people issue either. When something starts eating at me it can ruin a good time for me in a hurry.

And FTR I do everything in my power to avoid fat people places.

So are you trying to convince people that your opinions about vacation destinations are correct or are you just here to flame?

Not really, just commenting on OP's plight with his choice of destinations. You seem really uptight about this, what gives?

These disney threads remind me of the endless carnival cruise line threads. It's really quite simple, if you decide to go on vacation with the friggin public, then don't complain about the friggin public.

But your stifling of discourse on these boards seems to defeat the purpose of these boards, don't you think.

I don't disagree with some of your points, but you seem to really chastise people that post about Disney vacations. I get you don't like them, I love other vacation destinations as well, but I'm also aware that my love for destinations may not be the same as another person's. That's all I'm trying to say.

This would make your post more correct.

Wait, you go to disney, the biggest rip off sham in vacation history, and you don't expect to find like minded (and bodied) people?

Dude, that may be true for most people, but Disney also offer much better experiences... if you have the resources...

We paid for a private Disney tour guide... the guide will come and get us at the Floridian suites. We get private breakfast, lunch, dinner with characters my kids picked. We planned with the tour guide the rides that we wanted for that day and went straight to the rides with no waiting. Even took us underneath Disney to all the tunnels....

There are also times that the Magic Kingdom would open only to selected guesses... one morning and one night there were only about a hundred of us in the entire fully staffed park.

That was an entirely different experience for my kids than when I went there at their age. Yeah it cost a little more, but well worth it.

You really need to tag that link NSFW. Disturbing stuff there.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself but to each his own. I totally understand the guided tour thing, we got a hook up for a private tour of the Vatican and it's certainly adds to the enjoyment not to have to wait in any cues.

People who spend money vacationing and don't know what they are going to get, or what kind of people will be there expect the disappointment they'll feel. That said, either there are an inordinate amount of people on TD who are miserable unless they are in a controlled environment or they're insecure and looking for positive reinforcement. "This board" hates everything.

I saw it for the 11 years I worked there.

The one memory that I still have that is very vivid is this lady, mid 40 ish, rolling by on a park scooter and honestly, not even 20 steps behind her, not in her party but still, was this elderly woman, had to have been in her middle 70s, pulling a little dolly with a small oxygen tank on it and she's breathing through nasal cannula but yet she's walking.

It's over a mile around just the lagoon and she's walking.

It's a touchy subject with me because often than not, it's usually someone who doesn't want to wait or something along those lines.

Of course we'd get the ones who really needed to use them (so I am not in anyway trying to bash those that truly need them, don't misunderstand) but more often than not, they'd just pop out and walk around once they get to whatever attraction or restaurant they wanted to try next. And they demand the world. Expect everything handed to them. Really makes you shake your head at people. I can't tell you the number of broken feet we had in our department thanks to the people running them over and not knowing how to use the carts.

This is true. The OT has become rather laughable with all the hate and trashy group think that resounds on this board. Most of these posters have to be trolling, trying to fit in, or simply hate or deem things trashy that have absolutely no affect on their lives.

It's pitiful.

Been there all week, just left. There is truly a lot of fat folks these days. By the way, is anybody still in La. You could fill Tiger stadium with the LSU fans at Disney this week.

Happens every year at Mardi Gras. I always looked forward to it. I looked for all the LSU stuff.

I kept an LSU umbrella in my bag and people would yell out, "Geaux Tigers!" when I had it open. Really cool when you're stuck over in Florida and all you see are Gators and Arrowheads on everything.

You need to understand that things are different when you have kids. That is true in every way I can think of, but add vacation destination to that list as well.

Is there a level of trashiness to Disney? Yes. But at that point, it's not about how I will be perceived when I mention where I'm going as much as it is the little ones will be in heaven. It's not always about me.

I never wanted to go to Disney as kid, maybe I was weird. I laugh, a lot, at the people that go annually.

Who/how do you arrange this? Through disney travel? Connections? My kids love disney and this may be a way to avoid all that I hate about it.

Teach you kids a lesson and don't give them everything they want.
