Johnny out?

quote:

Looks like Captain Jack Sparrow may not be back in action! As per reports, the superstar is being dropped from the sixth installment of the iconic ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ franchise. The entertainment giant is considering actress Ayo Edebiri as a replacement for Depp. Her character is allegedly named Anne. The role is based on the life of Anne Bonny, a 17th-century female pirate.

Not to mention Anne Bonny was a white Irish Pirate with red hair.

That IP needs to go away … Jesus people come up with something new.

Plus if that artist rendering in the OP link is accurate she can walk my plank…or shiver me timber.

Pirates with Depp has been a big moneymaker. Depp is also getting older and he’s white, which is a huge problem for Disney now. And we all know thee are struggling to produce anything new so they’ll keep throwing our remakes and sequels.

Disney hasn’t really had a hit in a while and can use another successful Pirates movie I guess. Unfortunately their leadership seems to be more focused on politics than maximizing shareholder value. I am not confident that they will be successful with a new Pirates movie.

I sincerely hope that Musk can buy enough shares to influence that company’s leadership. They can be so much better than they are without really spending much more on production.

Johnny IS getting too old for action/adventure roles.

No excuse for the Anne Bonney crap though.

Damn was really hoping for a poop in the bed Easter egg scene from captain Jack!

This is just dumb in so many levels. Queue another one I won’t see.

I guess the Little Mermaid remake did well enough for them to keep rolling the redheads under the bus.

They will not be happy until the white race is the minority. They are replacing white people. Why not create something new with their woke policies? There is a reason. They want the white lead characters buried in the vault and change the entire dynamic of the entertainment industry. Right before our eyes. They don't want inclusiveness, they want eradication.

It's like they want to make movies that lose money. It's weird

Anyone taking the lead of this franchise who hasn’t been previously connected with it is probably going to fail miserably.

Angelica (Penelope Cruz) or Anamaria (Zoe Saldana) would make sense from a story perspective. Elizabeth Swann Turner (Kiera Knightly) would too but she has pretty much written off doing any more of them due to how long they take to shoot.

Pulling in an outsider and immediately making them the lead just screams “doomed from the start” given how much these movies cost to make.
