You can generally get an idea without even asking. I think it's childish to ask but I'd openly discuss if asked.

It does matter. It tells you something about that person and not always something negative like most people think. Almost everyone agrees that sex is an important part of a healthy relationship. Therefore it is an important part of life, right? I find it strange to ot discuss something a big part of someone's life like that.
It's fine to disagree. I'm just saying I could never be with someone that wouldn't want to discuss it. Being open and honest is very important to me. That's all.

If there is trust then there's no need to ask this question.

I don't think talking about numbers or past relationships is an issue, if it's something you're going to judge the person for, well, frick you. I enjoy talking about my husbands ex's and conquests. I don't think he feels the same about mine. Maybe this is a man thing.
