Did you, or do you plan to, make your kid pay for their first car?

Figure this is a great learning opportunity to teach our daughter (no pics) some money management skills and responsibilty.

You buy the car, but make her pay the insurance and taxes.

My folks just helped with their credit. Insurance, Loan, and etc were all up to me. This was also after I held a job for over a year and this car was only 13k.

Buy your kid a beater.
Make her pay $150 a month for it, maybe a portion of the insurance and gas.
Keep that $150 a month as a down payment for a newer car if and when she gets accepted in to college (preferably with scholarship)
If she fails the above, buy cocaine.

my step daughter should since she doesn't do much else but she won't and her mother and father won't let it happen. My wife has already said that she will give her the Maxima she's driving.

Nope. Bought my son an old mustang and paid to fix it up for his first car at 17. Daughter picked out her first car (used) but we paid for it.

We made it clear that was the 1st and last car we were buying them.

Jaxton will never be able to afford an F350 unless I co-sign and float him the first 48 months while he’s in the minors. Then he should make enough to pick up the payments for the next 48 months.

Daxton doesn’t have the same talent so he’ll prob have to settle for the F150 single cab. I’ll prob float his payments until he gets on a turnaround at the plant and makes enough overtime to pick them up.

My son received a full academic scholarship to college so I happily paid for his car. This was our deal. Win-Win.

I'll probably give mine the wife's car when she turns 16 and help her as long as she's still in school.

My oldest got a 10 year old civic that I bought. Made him pay insurance and gas. Told him should he be involved in a crash, he would be responsible for the deductible.

Gotta make sure the kid has a resonable amount of skin in the game
