I used to say “free-pointers” and “three-throws” growing up instead of “free-throws” and “three-pointers”. I would screw up the basketball terminology all the time.

The five times I got a hole in one I instinctively yelled “nothing but net!” every time.

It was quite embarrassing.

I can usually pick up the rules for sports just by watching it but cricket confuses the hell out of me.

I feel like announcers vary on shuffle/shovel/shuttle pass.

Did you get out of school a little bit earlier than most kids every day?

Contain is a verb. I never understood why the meatheads on tv always talked about breaking contain, when containment is right there. Remember, all these guys went to college.

shovel pass vs shuffle pass (a dinosaur play nowadays)

0, 1, 2 technique (alignment o Dline to Oline), confused 1 and 2. 0 was clear.

Karaoke (Footwork drill), was certain that was not the right word for it...but it was

Early days...flag and post routes (backwards)

Blocking down (towards ball)

Larry Munson used to always say “giving x a blow” when he called basketball. Never stopped cracking me up just bc he did it so often.

Negative, it was “carry overs”…

Also, hearing announcers say “hook & ladder”, when they should say “hook & lateral “

When I was a kid, I would hear the announcers say “that ball took an Oilers bounce” or “a cowboys bounce”...And I thought there was a different type of bounce for every team.

They sure all looked the same though.
