Rihanna isn’t a performer or a good vocalist. Her image and brand is what sells. The majority of her biggest hits are features with other artists and yet none were brought out to save that snooze fest.

Gaga is a musician, I'll giver her props, she writes most of her stuff.... Rihanna is an entertainer.

Lady Gaga and The Weeknd did NOT lipsync.

The NFL insists that you have a backing track so that if something fricks up the show goes on.

Gaga did for a little bit, but not the whole show. She sang most.I think parts where she flew around? I don’t totally remember.

The dropping in and flying around was pre-recorded. Her singing was live.

She even called out J-Lo and Shakira for not singing live.

There's noting edgy about what you're doing here. That was the point.

There's a backing track that drives the entire performance with vocals. They record it during their rehearsals leading up to the game.

I understand how it works. If nothing goes wrong, you won't hear the backup track. Go watch the Weeknd's performance and see for yourself. He sang the whole thing live.

this is weird, I'm old but I've heard her name because I've heard my wife and daughter talk about her, I'm assuming she's a singer but you're saying this singer can't perform or sing? wtf does she do?

Just a reminder that people melted because the Weeknd "sounded like shite." Almost as if you can't run around a stadium and have pristine sound without a backing track at the same time

I wasn't trying to be "edgy", that's your take...

I just thought the overhyped halftime show was bad for the hype it got...

You must be a huge Rihanna fan, sorry to hurt your feelings.

hehehe. I love Fergie. But god that was bad.

Anyhoots. The vocals have been live for the artists who choose them to be.

Bingo. He insisted on no assistance from the backup vocal tracks. I loved his performance. It was genuine and nuts.

I watched it ... For the most part, to me, it was cringe. But I was amazed at the crowd reaction. Was the cheering pipped in? Of course the crowd isn't the focus of the lighting or cameras but it sounded like that was 70k Rhianna fans there for her show...and there happened to be a super bowl as the opening act

She can sing

She wouldn’t be where she is if she couldn’t.

What's bad about that concept, professional musicians are just that, professionals, they rehearse so much, they usually never make mistakes.

I presume that's why a lot of potentially awesome halftime shows never come to fruition.
